Parish-by-Parish Coverage
efferson Parish — Our Home Parish and Primary Service Area
Jefferson Parish is our home parish and the largest portion of our project volume. We serve every community in Jefferson Parish — both the East Bank (Metairie, Kenner, River Ridge, Harahan, Elmwood, Old Jefferson) and the West Bank (Gretna, Terrytown, Harvey, Marrero, Algiers, Westwego, Avondale, Bridge City, Waggaman, Jefferson, Estelle, Woodmere, Barataria, Jean Lafitte, Lafitte).
Gutter installation in Jefferson Parish does not require a building permit for standard residential work on one- and two-family dwellings. Attached patio covers, carports, and screen rooms do require permits — homeowners pull these as part of the project.
We are familiar with Jefferson Parish Building Department requirements, typical review timelines, and the permit process for every structure type we build.
Orleans Parish — East Bank New Orleans and Algiers
We serve Orleans Parish homeowners throughout the greater New Orleans area. We have active projects in neighborhoods across the East Bank and in the Algiers community on the West Bank.
Note:
we do not actively advertise service in the following New Orleans ZIP codes: 70112/70113 (CBD), 70115/70118 (Uptown/Garden District/University), 70116 (French Quarter/Marigny), 70117 (Bywater/St. Claude), 70119 (Mid-City), 70122 (Gentilly), 70130 (Lower Garden District). These exclusions are for scheduling and routing efficiency — if your address is in one of these areas, call us and we'll confirm whether we can accommodate your project.
St. Bernard Parish — Chalmette and Surrounding Areas
We regularly serve St. Bernard Parish homeowners including Chalmette and surrounding communities. St. Bernard is part of our regular scheduling rotation with no extended travel involved.
Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes — Extended Service
We serve homeowners in Lafourche Parish (Thibodaux, Luling, and surrounding communities) and Terrebonne Parish (Houma area) on an extended-travel basis.
For extended-area jobs, lead times for estimates may be slightly longer and we typically schedule these visits with other nearby work to make the travel efficient. Call to discuss your specific address and project — we'll give you an honest answer on scheduling.
Key Service Communities

Gretna, LA — Our Home Base
Gretna is where Joe's Gutters & Patios is based and where Derel has spent his career. We know Gretna's neighborhoods, home styles, and common issues — from the older mid-century homes near the river to newer construction in the subdivisions further out. Same-day and next-day estimates available in most cases.

Metairie, LA — East Bank Hub
Metairie is our highest-volume East Bank service area. The combination of mid-century ranch homes, significant tree coverage, and established neighborhoods creates consistent demand for gutter maintenance, replacement, and patio cover upgrades. We have completed hundreds of projects in Metairie.

Harvey, LA — West Bank
Harvey is one of our most active West Bank service communities. We serve homeowners throughout Harvey for gutter installation, patio covers, screen rooms, and storm damage work.

Marrero, LA — West Bank
Marrero homeowners rely on Joe's for seamless gutter installation, patio covers and carports, and post-storm gutter repair. We're familiar with Marrero's neighborhoods and typical home configurations.

Algiers, LA — Orleans Parish West Bank
Algiers is an Orleans Parish community on the West Bank. We serve Algiers homeowners for all our services — gutter installation, patio covers, screen rooms, and repairs.

Belle Chasse, LA — Plaquemines Parish Border
Belle Chasse is a primary service community for Joe's — we have significant project history here and understand the specific characteristics of Belle Chasse neighborhoods, including newer planned developments and older established homes.

Kenner, LA — East Bank
Kenner is an active part of our East Bank service area. We serve Kenner homeowners for gutter installation, replacement, cleaning, and aluminum patio structure work.

New Orleans, LA — Selected Neighborhoods
We serve New Orleans homeowners in the East Bank neighborhoods outside our excluded ZIP codes (see Orleans Parish section above) and in Algiers on the West Bank. Greater New Orleans' historic housing stock creates interesting gutter and awning work — we're experienced with the specific considerations of older homes in this area.
Services Available Throughout Our Service Area
All of our services are available throughout our primary service area. There's no tiered service structure — you get the same quality, the same crew, and the same pricing methodology whether you're in Gretna (our home base) or Chalmette (St. Bernard Parish). Here's what we bring to each area:
Jefferson Parish West Bank (Gretna, Harvey, Marrero, Terrytown, Westwego, Avondale, Bridge City, Waggaman, Estelle, Woodmere, Belle Chasse, Algiers, Barataria, Jean Lafitte, Lafitte, Jefferson) — Full service, fastest scheduling, same-day estimates available in most cases.
Jefferson Parish East Bank (Metairie, Kenner, River Ridge, Harahan, Elmwood, Old Jefferson) — Full service, typically 1–3 day estimate scheduling.
Orleans Parish East Bank (New Orleans, selected neighborhoods) — Full service except excluded downtown/tourist-district ZIP codes. 1–3 day scheduling.
St. Bernard Parish (Chalmette and surrounding) — Full service, regular scheduling rotation, 1–5 day estimate scheduling.
Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes (Houma, Thibodaux, Luling, Destrehan, LaPlace) — All services available on extended-travel basis. Call to confirm scheduling for your address and project.
Why Local Expertise Matters for Louisiana Gutter and Patio Cover Work
Louisiana's building environment is genuinely different from the rest of the country. The soil, the rainfall, the humidity, the UV intensity, the hurricane exposure — all of these factors affect what products last, what installation practices are appropriate, and what building code requirements apply. A contractor from outside the region applying their standard practices to Greater New Orleans work will get it wrong in ways that show up 2–5 years after the job.
Joe's Gutters & Patios has been working in this specific environment for over 25 years. Derel knows that Jefferson Parish gutter work doesn't require a permit. He knows that Orleans Parish does require permits for attached patio covers. He knows which neighborhoods have HOA requirements and roughly what they expect. He knows which soil conditions in which parts of our service area require larger carport footings. This local knowledge is part of what you're hiring when you hire us.
When a national franchise opens a location here, their crews are trained to national standards. When an out-of-state contractor comes through after a hurricane for quick work, they're applying their regional practices to Louisiana conditions. We're not that. We live here, work here, and have built our entire business around understanding what works in this specific place.

FAQs
Aluminum Carport FAQs
How much does an aluminum carport cost in New Orleans?
Aluminum carport pricing depends on size, configuration (attached vs. freestanding), panel type, and footing requirements. Single-vehicle freestanding carports start around $5,500–$10,000 for basic configurations. Two-vehicle and boat covers are priced larger. All estimates are free and done on-site.
Do I need a permit for a carport in Jefferson Parish?
Depends on size and attachment. Freestanding small carports sometimes don't require a permit. Attached carports and any structure over certain sizes almost always do. We assess at the estimate; permits are the homeowner's responsibility.
Can you build a carport to fit my boat trailer?
Yes — we regularly build carports for boat trailers, pontoon boats, and watercraft of all sizes. We take the exact dimensions of your rig at the estimate (length, width, height with the boat on it) and build with appropriate clearance.
What is the difference between a carport and a patio cover?
Functionally, they're the same structure — an aluminum-covered structure. The difference is application: a patio cover is attached to the house over a patio, designed for outdoor living. A carport covers a driveway or parking area for vehicles. The construction is essentially identical; it's the location and purpose that differs. This is also why many Louisiana homeowners search "aluminum carport" when looking for a covered outdoor living structure.
How do aluminum carports hold up in Louisiana weather?
Our aluminum carports are built with solid concrete footings and quality structural connections. A cheaply built freestanding carport with shallow footings will not hold up — we don't build that way.
How long does carport installation take?
Most carport installations are completed in 1–2 days once materials are on-site. If concrete footings are needed, allow 24–48 hours for the concrete to cure before the structure is built on it.
Can a carport be painted or does it come in colors?
Our aluminum panels come in six factory baked-enamel colors: White, Ivory, Wicker, Clay, Bronze, and Black. The finish is applied at the factory before forming — it's not painted on-site. This means it doesn't chip, peel, or require repainting.
