Most gutter failures in New Orleans trace back to bad installation, not bad luck — miter-strip corners sealed with cheap caulk, undersized hangers spaced too far apart, standard screws with no neoprene washer. When you call us for a repair, we diagnose the actual problem, not just the visible symptom. And we tell you honestly whether repair makes sense or whether replacement is the better value.

Any of these signs warrants an assessment. The longer water routes incorrectly around your home, the more damage compounds. A repair that costs a few hundred dollars today prevents one that costs several thousand next year.

Gutter Repair Types — What We Fix

Corner Leaks — The #1 Failure in Louisiana

Inside and outside corners are the most common failure point in Greater New Orleans. The cause is almost always the same: miter-strip construction sealed with sealant that degrades in Louisiana's heat cycle.

Standard caulk breaks down in 2–4 years under New Orleans' UV and temperature cycling. Once the sealant fails at a corner, the joint opens and water drains straight down your fascia and wall.

We assess whether the corner can be properly re-sealed (appropriate for recent installations with otherwise sound gutters) or whether a hand mitered corner replacement is needed. We won't re-caulk a joint that will fail again in 2 years.

When multiple corners across a system are failing, replacement with hand-mitered corner construction is almost always better value than patching one by one.

Sagging Gutters — Hanger Failure and Slope Loss

A sagging gutter has lost its pitch — water pools rather than draining. The weight of standing water accelerates the sag and eventually pulls the gutter away from the fascia.

Causes: hangers spaced too far apart, hanger screws backed out of deteriorated fascia, or original installation with inadequate slope.

Repair: re-hang the affected section with properly spaced hangers, correct the pitch to 1/4" drop per 10 feet, replace any damaged hardware. If fascia behind the hanger has rotted, we address that first.

Gutters Pulling Away from the Fascia

When gutters separate from the fascia, the cause is either failed hanger screws or deteriorated fascia that can no longer hold a screw. Both are repairable — fascia condition determines the approach.

Sound fascia: re-drive hanger screws at new locations with neoprene washers. Rotted fascia: replace the affected section first, then re-attach the gutter. There's no point driving screws into soft wood.

Joint and Seam Leaks (Sectional Systems)

Older sectional gutters (not seamless) have joints between sections. These fail regularly in Louisiana's climate from thermal expansion, UV degradation, and humidity attacking the sealant.

We re-seal failed joints with premium UV-rated sealant. When a connector has corroded, we replace it. When multiple joints are failing across a sectional system, replacement with seamless is usually the better long-term value.

Storm and Hurricane Damage

Louisiana's storm season can damage gutters that were in good condition — wind-lifted sections, debris impact, hanger failure under load. We prioritize storm damage calls during active storm seasons.

We assess and document damage for homeowner insurance claims. Call immediately after a storm — don't let damage compound.

Named-storm deductibles in Louisiana are calculated as a percentage of your home's insured value (typically 2–5%). A $350,000 home with a 3% named-storm deductible has a $10,500 deductible — call us for an honest assessment before deciding whether to file.

Downspout Problems

Blocked, disconnected, or undersized downspouts cause gutter backups that force water out at the weakest joint or corner — making a repair look like a different problem.

We flush blocked downspouts, replace damaged sections, add extensions to move water away from the foundation, and upsize outlets when the existing fitting is bottlenecking the drain.

Fascia Rot — The Hidden Consequence of Ignored Gutters

Fascia rot is not a gutter problem — it's the consequence of a gutter problem that was ignored. Gutters that leak or overflow against the fascia for months or years destroy the wood.

Rotted fascia must be replaced before new gutters can be hung. We identify this at the estimate stage so there are no surprises.

What Storm Damage Looks Like

Wind damage: gutters partially detached from the fascia, bent or crushed sections from debris impact, downspouts blown out of their brackets.

Rain event damage: overwhelmed gutters clogging with debris, overflowing, causing fascia and soffit damage.

Debris impact: branches carried by severe winds can crush sections, tear hangers from the fascia, and deform the gutter channel.

Insurance Claim Support

We assess storm damage and provide written documentation for insurance claims — photos, description of damage scope and cause, repair estimate in the format insurers need.

Document damage yourself immediately after a storm (photos and video) before calling your insurer. Then call us — having an independent assessment on record strengthens your claim.

Important: Louisiana's named-storm deductibles can be substantial. We help you understand the full scope of damage before you decide whether to file, so you're not surprised by a deductible that exceeds the repair cost.

FAQs

Gutter Repair FAQs

  • My gutters are leaking at every corner — can they be repaired?

If all corners are failing simultaneously, it's a systemic installation quality issue. Re-caulking all corners buys 1–2 years at most before they fail again. Full replacement with hand mitered construction is almost always the better value in this scenario.

  • My gutters are sagging — is that fixable?

Usually yes, if the fascia is sound. We re-hang the sagging section with properly spaced hangers and correct the slope. If the fascia is rotted, we replace it first.

  • How quickly can you respond to storm damage?

Often same-day or next-day during active storm seasons. Call (504) 813-4293 immediately after a storm — we prioritize active damage calls.

  • My gutter is pulling away from the house — how urgent is this?

Urgent — water is actively routing against your fascia or wall. The longer it continues, the more secondary damage compounds. Call for a same-week assessment.

  • Will you document damage for my insurance claim?

Yes — written assessment, photos, repair estimate in the format insurers require. Call us before you call your insurer when possible.

  • How much does gutter repair cost in New Orleans?

Varies significantly based on what's actually wrong — a simple corner re-seal is very different from re-hanging a 40-foot sagging run with fascia replacement. We assess on-site and give you a written quote at no charge — all quotes are sent to you via email and text.

  • Can you repair gutters on a two-story home?

Yes — we work on single-story and two-story homes throughout Greater New Orleans. Two-story work is reflected in the estimate.

  • My neighbor's 2-year-old gutters are already leaking — is that normal?

Common, but not normal. 2-year-old gutters that are leaking at corners were almost certainly installed with miter strips and cheap sealant. Louisiana's climate destroys that sealant in 18–24 months. It's a sign of a contractor who cut corners on a step that costs very little to do right.
