Joe's Gutters & Patios was founded in 1999 by Derel Broussard with a single purpose: to help Greater New Orleans homeowners protect and improve their homes at a fair price, from a contractor they could actually trust. Over 25 years and 500+ completed projects later, that mission hasn't changed.
It's a father and son operation. When you call Joe's, you speak directly with Derel — the owner. When we show up to your job, Derel is there. Not a crew you've never met. Not a subcontractor. The owner, personally, on your project from start to finish.
Why Derel Started Joe's Gutters
"I started this business to help homeowners make affordable improvements to their homes. I wanted to provide a trustworthy business built on integrity and professionalism with an added bonus of a family-oriented feel. When you choose Joe's Gutters & Patios for your home improvement needs, you become part of our family and will be treated as such."
— Derel Broussard, Owner, Joe's Gutters & Patios
Derel has spent 25+ years watching what Louisiana's climate does to gutters and outdoor aluminum structures in the Greater New Orleans area. He's seen the corners that fail because a contractor used miter strips instead of hand mitered joints He's seen the patio covers that blow apart in a storm because the installer skipped the proper structural anchoring. He's seen the gutters that sag in two years because the hangers were spaced too far apart.
Joe's Gutters & Patios
does it the right way — not the fast way. Hand mitered corners on every gutter. Neoprene washer screws on every fastener. Hangers at 30-inch intervals, not 36. Proper structural anchoring on every aluminum structure. Permits handled by the homeowner on every job that requires one. It costs a little more in time and materials to do things correctly. It costs the homeowner nothing extra — and it's why our gutters and structures last when others don't.
How We Work — What You Can Expect From Day One

You Deal Directly With the Owner
Derel answers the phone. Derel does the estimate. Derel is on the job. When you have a question or concern, you're not navigating a call center or waiting for a project manager to relay a message. You have direct access to the person responsible for your project. This is what we mean by a family business — not a slogan, but a literal operational reality.

Honest Pricing — No High-Pressure Sales
We give you a written estimate and let you decide. We don't use sales tactics, upsell with artificial urgency, or knock on your door with "limited time" offers. You get a fair price and the space to make your own decision. If you want to compare quotes from other contractors, that's completely fine. We're confident in our pricing and our work.

We Do What We Say We'll Do
Our estimate outlines exactly what's included. We do that work — nothing less. If we find something unexpected during the job (a fascia issue, a structural problem), we tell you before we proceed and get your approval. No surprises on the final invoice.

No Subcontractors
Every person on your job is part of the Joe's team. We don't send subcontractors. The crew that shows up has been trained to our standards and shares our approach to quality. Derel knows the work they do because he does it himself.

We Clean Up Completely
We remove all job debris, old materials, and scraps before we leave. Your property is clean when we're done. This is standard on every job — not an extra service or an upsell.

We Stand Behind the Work
All new installation projects are covered by a 2-year workmanship warranty on labor and the manufacturer's 15-year warranty on premium aluminum materials. If anything we installed fails due to workmanship, we come back and make it right at no charge. We've been in this community for 25+ years and we intend to be here for the next 25. Our reputation depends on standing behind every job.

We're not the cheapest option in the market. We're also not the most expensive. What we are is the best value — because a gutter or patio cover done right the first time costs less over its lifetime than one done cheaply and repaired or replaced every few years.

25+ Years in the Greater New Orleans Community
Derel has lived and worked in the Greater New Orleans area his entire career. He's watched this community respond to Katrina, rebuild, and grow stronger. He's worked on homes in neighborhoods across Jefferson Parish and Orleans Parish — from new construction in growing West Bank subdivisions to historic homes in established Metairie neighborhoods.
When you hire Joe's, you're hiring a neighbor — someone who has a stake in this community's quality of life and reputation. Not a company that dispatches crews from out of state after a hurricane and moves on. We're here before the storm, during, and after. We'll still be here in 10 years.

What 25+ Years of Customers Say
★★★★★
"Derel and his crew did a wonderful job repairing my home after tornado damage. They installed new gutters and took care of minor repairs that I could find no one else to do. Professional, hard-working, prompt and reliable. Derel was regularly on site supervising. A refreshing experience. Highly recommend!"
— Daniel V. · Gretna, LA
★★★★★
"From the estimate to the completed job, everything was spot on. I like the fact that it's a father and son operation and a local company. The patio came out flawless and the guys cleaned up after themselves. We were very happy and will highly recommend them to all our friends and family."
— Troy B. · Metairie, LA
★★★★★
"I absolutely will get all my work done through Joe's Gutters! Professional, patient, thorough! Can't ask for any better company. Next — my carport!"
— Stella R. · Harvey, LA
We welcome all of these questions and answer them without hesitation. A contractor who deflects, gets defensive, or can't produce a license number and insurance certificate when asked — walk away.
We believe an informed homeowner makes better decisions — even when that means they choose a competitor. Here are the questions that matter:

Are you licensed in Louisiana? Ask for the license number and verify it at the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors website. Our license is #CL.65670.

Are you insured? Ask for a certificate of insurance showing general liability and workers compensation coverage. Verify that the policy is current before work begins. Our coverage is through State Farm — $2,000,000 GL and workers comp.

Who will actually be on my job? Will it be your employees or subcontractors? Subcontractor work has less accountability. Our crew is our crew.

Will the owner be on my project? Or will I be dealing with a salesperson and then a separate installation crew?

Can you provide references from jobs in my neighborhood in the past 12 months? Verify them.

Do you pull permits? For the work you're proposing, is a permit required? (Note: gutter installation on one- and two-family dwellings does not require a permit in Jefferson Parish. Patio covers, screen rooms, and carports do.)

What warranty do you provide on your work? Get it in writing.

Our Commitment to the Greater New Orleans Community
Joe's Gutters & Patios isn't a franchise that opened a location here. It isn't a regional company that moved in to pick up post-hurricane work and then moved on. It's a business that was built here, employs people from here, and has a stake in this community's quality and reputation.
When Hurricanes Katrina, Ida, and Zeta came through Greater New Orleans, we were here before the storm, responding during the aftermath, and working on repairs in the weeks and months that followed. Our customers in Gretna, Metairie, Harvey, and Marrero know where to find us when something goes wrong — because we've been at the same address for over 25 years and we're going to be there for the next 25.
We don't offer the lowest price in the market. We offer the best value — work done correctly the first time, by a contractor who will be accountable for it and available for the lifetime of the project. In Greater New Orleans' climate, that's what actually protects your home.
